About the IELTS Speaking Test

The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is one of the world's most popular English language tests, accepted by over 11,000 organizations worldwide. The speaking test is a face-to-face interview lasting 11–14 minutes, divided into three parts.

Part 1 covers familiar topics like home, family, work, and interests (4–5 minutes). Part 2 is a long turn where you speak for 1–2 minutes on a given topic after 1 minute of preparation. Part 3 involves a deeper discussion related to the Part 2 topic (4–5 minutes).

You are scored on four criteria: Fluency and Coherence, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range and Accuracy, and Pronunciation. Each criterion is scored 0–9, and your overall speaking band score is the average. Our AI practice tool helps you prepare for all three parts and provides feedback aligned with these criteria.
