About the CELPIP Speaking Test

The CELPIP (Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program) is a Canadian English language test designated by IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) for immigration and citizenship applications. It is fully computer-delivered, including the speaking section.

The CELPIP speaking component consists of 8 tasks completed in approximately 15–20 minutes. Tasks include giving advice, talking about a personal experience, describing a scene, making predictions, comparing and persuading, and dealing with a difficult situation. Each response is recorded and scored.

Scores are reported as CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark) levels from 1 to 12. Most immigration programs require CLB 7 or higher. Our AI practice tool simulates CELPIP-style tasks and provides feedback to help you achieve your target score.

FAQ

What is the CELPIP test?

CELPIP (Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program) is a Canadian English proficiency test accepted by IRCC for immigration and citizenship. It's fully computer-delivered, making our AI practice tool an ideal preparation method.

How is CELPIP different from IELTS?

CELPIP is fully computer-based (including speaking), uses Canadian English, and reports CLB scores. IELTS speaking is a live interview, uses international English, and reports band scores. Both are accepted for Canadian immigration.

What CLB score do I need for immigration?

Requirements vary by program. Express Entry typically requires CLB 7 (CELPIP 7) for each skill. Provincial Nominee Programs may have different requirements. Check IRCC's website for your specific program.
